This is an early Mt. Vernon Bach Stradivarius with a 37 bell and 25 pipe, built on a medium bore body. This trumpet is from the golden age of Mt. Vernon Bach trumpets, and is less than 200 digits away from the legendary Chicago Symphony Bach C trumpets. This trumpet has all of the features that make these horns sought after and replicated, including a lightweight, one piece bell with a french rim, two-piece valve casings with nickel trim, narrow span tuning slide, and the funky NY/Mt. Vernon transitional pinky hook. This trumpet plays with a lively and rich tone that the 37 bell is known for.
This trumpet is finished in raw brass and is in excellent condition for its age. The valves are monel and are in original condition. They have good action and the compression is consistent with the age of the horn. There are no patches on the trumpet, but there are two tiny dings in the bell flare (pictured). Included with the horn is the original case and a copy of the shop card.
