According to the unofficial Calicchio archive website, this horn was probably made in LA shortly after the 75th anniversary series instruments. It has a couple of unique features not commonly seen on Calicchio trumpets, like yellow brass outer slides, a forward facing 2nd slide, a reverse leadpipe layout, amado water keys, stock heavy caps, and a red brass bell. I believe this horn is a predecessor to the Ultra series, which was a line within the Calicchio catalog meant to compete with the heavy horns that were popular in the early 2000’s. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.38; margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt;\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(255, 255, 255); background-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;\"\u003eThis trumpet is built with a #2 leadpipe and a #2 bell in red brass. The #2 bell taper is the least common Calicchio bell, and was designed to have the signature sparkle the 1S was known for with a less aggressive sound. I find this instrument to be quite rich and vibrant sounding with a very open upper register. It balances well in the hand and is quick to light up.
